What is the meaning of Refresh fields (both)

Description
- select some species
- open species information
- click on Fields on the menu bar
- notice that there is a button labeled Refresh Fields (both).
What does this button do? I understand that it refreshes the fields. But the (both) tells me that there is something else that is refreshed? what is it?
