Crash from Species Information fields

Description (last modified by westram)

Hi,

This is a little problem that may only apply to me. I have a field in the “Species information” that is defined as numerical (which is useful for me), but if I accidentally enter text there, Arb crashes. I try to remember to save regularly, but that isn’t generally an issue with Arb so I tend to forget. Maybe there are reasons not to have autosave, although that would be one answer. Failing that, is there a way to have error messages instead of crashes?

Thanks,

Barbara MacGregor

Dear Barbara,
thank you for reporting that problem.

This is a little problem that may only apply to me. I have a field in the “Species information” that is defined as numerical (which is useful for me), but if I accidentally enter text there, Arb crashes.

Confirmed with arb-6.x

[…], is there a way to have error messages instead of crashes?

It has already been fixed in 2016. It was never backported to arb-6.x series, but does no longer occur in arb-7.0.

Best wishes,
Ralf
